2014 All Ford Day Eastern Creek Sydney

On Sunday the 27tth July I attended the All Ford Day for the 3rd year in Eastern Creek about 45mins out of Sydney it was at the carpark beside the Drag strip on the back of the recently refurbished / extended track again this year.

Click on the link to lasts year post http://ford-topia.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/all-ford-day-2013-eastern-creek.html

Location is easy to get to you just get off at the Eastern creek turnoff, off the M4 motorway. There was plenty of signage heading up to the grounds and there was staff directing cars to the carparking areas. It was free to park in the nearby field , and $5 entry charge to the venue.Weather was great again. Not a cloud in the sky. At this location you do get some smells wafting over from the nearby refuse center occasionally depending on the wind etc.

Refer to below for some pictures from the day

Immaculate Falcon was a pleasant surprise to not see yet another XYGT replica.

The swapmeet was mostly repro parts signs and a few clothing items.

This was a Steve Mc Queen 'Bullitt' replica based on the 1968 movie. The movie Bullitt is well known for its car chase scene through the streets of San Fran regarded as one of the most influential in movie history.

Mk2 Cortina  4 door GT which is a regular at the ford shows.
It has the white walls, lowered and retro venetian rear blinds that are very popular at the moment.

Ford GT-40 this had me baffled I wasn't sure if it was an original car or not. It had a GT40 stamp on it, but the engine looked too late model, the shell was all steel instead of the usual fiberglass replicas, It had the original period wheels and lights didn't look like reproduction ones either.

If anyone had any information on it, I would love to know.

Ford model A hot rod, this looked a little unsafe to me up close, it was a supercharged triple carbed flat head engine, the roof hadn't been chopped liked it usually is, it also had rear mud guards that were not to my liking, but might be required for pink slip / W.O.F.

This Shelby Mustang is another regular car at the shows every time I see it I noticed something else different on it. It is really neat that's its left in its original state. This time I noticed the ghosted sign writing on the side on the right hand front guard in the photo above.

There was rows of every colour mustang and variety avaialable. Most of them in exceptional condition.

There where a couple of 2wd Sapphire cosworths which was nice to see, one on original wheels,

and this one is a regular at most ford related shows it is in great conditional, standard apart form aftermarket radiator and looks lowered on Competive wheels.

This GT mk1 Cortina 2 door is a very special GT500 it was Australia's version of the Lotus cortina.
It has the two lower front air scoops, twin fuel caps behind the rear window, special two door export chrome GT trim, and a 500 badge in front of the GT symbol on the back mudguard and a round blanking plate covering the old fuel entry hole.

Ford Australia decided to build their own racing Cortina to compete in the 1965 Bathurst race. Ford commissioned local racing driver Harry Firth to design and build the Cortina.

These cortina's differs from a normal GT in regards to the fuel load, engine spec and gearbox. One fuel tank was under the rear window which in turn feed into a standard floor mounted tank .

The gearbox used was a Lotus gearbox with a standard GT 3.9 diff.

As well as the visible scoops and tanks these cortina's had lowered suspension, modified driver’s seat, and other modifications.

The Ford numbering system / code for the model was 122E. The 122 serial number appears on the driver’s side turret and engine block in both type 1 and 2.

The Cortina GT500 was built with three variations Type 1,2 and 3.

The first two Types can be identified by the way the additional fuel tank in the boot is fixed, screwed or welded.

The engines in these GT500's used was a Ford OHV Kent GT with other modifications like down draft carb, and a ‘113’ camshaft from George Wade, solid small harmonic balance, clipped fan blade, heavy duty generator bracket and other refinements. T

Mk1 Cortina 4 door

Mk1 pre-facelift capri, in exceptional condition, and looking very standard.

From what I could see this ford escort 2 door mk2 escort was heavily modified, with plentiful amounts of chrome throughout the engine bay. The car was painted in a custom pearl burgundy / candy apple red colour. It had deep dished Simmons B4 mag wheels on the rear with a staggered offset and white wall tires all round.

The car had a strut brace, strut tops were polished and blanked off, and aftermarket alloy radiator, catch can , and stainless dipstick.

The engine bay was de-loomed with battery relocated elsewhere.

The combination of a holley and a supercharger is an unusual setup for a pinto engine .
The norm in the UK in the mid eighties for the cortinas / capris etc for forced induction was a 'Janspeed' after market suck through turbo kits that were fitted out of the factory.
